There is a long-standing debate between those who prefer cake and those that align best with pie.   Often people who like pie can do with or without cake. Some cake supporters say that pie is very much one dimensional, containing variations in crust and fillings, and that's it. As for cake, they say the recipes can be much more complex, offering many options with batter, filling, icing and crust like enclosures. So, you might ask, where does that leave the discussion?
